Our Roof Damage Inspection and Documentation Process
When a homeowner contacts us after storm damage, our first step is a comprehensive roof inspection — not a quick surface glance, but a full assessment of every area of the roof system. We inspect shingles, flashing, ridge caps, valleys, gutters, fascia, and the underlying deck for signs of impact, wind lift, or water intrusion. We do this systematically and thoroughly because insurance adjusters need to see the complete picture of the damage, not just the most visible points. Our inspection identifies every claim-eligible item so nothing is left off the report.
We document all damage with detailed photographs taken from multiple angles and elevations, close-up shots of impact points, and wide-angle views that establish the overall condition of the roof. Our written damage reports describe every affected section in the specific language that Connecticut insurance adjusters and carriers recognize and accept. We include measurements, descriptions of the damage mechanism — whether wind, hail, or debris impact — and a clear scope of the repair or replacement work required. This documentation package is what drives a successful claim approval and prevents delays in the process.
LANC Construction provides this inspection and documentation service at no charge to the homeowner. We do not charge for our time on site, for the photographs, or for the written report. Our fee comes from the roofing work itself, once the claim is approved and the repair or replacement is authorized. This means homeowners can call us immediately after a storm with no financial risk and no obligation. Getting a professional inspection on record quickly is important because most insurance policies have defined windows for reporting storm damage — and waiting can complicate the claim.
