Hardwood and Vinyl Plank Flooring Installation
When we install hardwood flooring in a Connecticut home, we start with the subfloor. We inspect for level, for squeaks, for moisture, and for any soft spots that would telegraph through the finished floor surface. If the subfloor needs leveling compound, fastening, or moisture barrier treatment before installation begins, we do that work first — because a hardwood floor installed over a compromised subfloor will creak, cup, and gap regardless of the quality of the wood. We do not skip subfloor preparation to save time on the install.
We install hardwood flooring using both nail-down and glue-down methods depending on the subfloor type and the homeowner's preference. For vinyl plank installations, we use a floating method over appropriate underlayment, or a glue-down method for full-spread adhesion where the application demands it. In every case, we acclimate the flooring material in the home before installation — hardwood and vinyl both expand and contract with Connecticut's seasonal humidity swings, and installing without acclimation leads to gapping in winter and buckling in summer. We allow the full acclimation time every installation requires.
Every hardwood and vinyl plank installation LANC Construction completes includes precise cutting at walls and transitions, clean threshold and reducer installation at doorways and room transitions, and a final inspection of the full installed surface before we leave the property. We do not leave gaps at walls that exceed standard tolerances, transitions that rock underfoot, or boards that are not fully seated. The homeowner walks the finished floor with us before we pack up, and any concern identified during that walkthrough is addressed before the job is closed.
